Garage Sales Rock..!! And Weekend Fun

Hands up those out there who LOVE garage sales.


ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME well if you haven't noticed ME.
I just love digging through other peoples crap ( sorry quality goods ) you get to look into the lives of other people by buying there old things. Everything has a story attached to it, where it was bought from , why it was bought was it a gift from a loved one that isn't loved anymore or that thing in the corner of the house that you have hated but couldn't get rid of because nanna gave it to you . Or are you just broke and need the money? Hell I don't care just let me in I want that bargain.

This weekend just gone I went garage sale hunting I've always done it but now my son is older he loves to come and hunt for toys and books he loves to find things for his nanna's garden too he is such a good kid. He went straight to bed on Friday night without a wings or a whine in preparation of the early start, I cant say I did I played poker until just after midnight with the boys again it was good to see one of the dodgy bros could make it this time, must have got a pardon from the warden ( just joking Amy ). Dave and myself organized to meet at his house and go together as he is just as mad for them as I am, he even made egg and bacon muffin 's for us thanks Dodgy.

wasn't much to get this time but we had a good morning anyway we went and picked up some tin then some carpet and dropped back at Dave's house by this time I had to be at my sister inlaws b'day party so I had to rush off . Was a quick lunch and a play with my beautiful nephew Joshua and his Gorgeous sister Lilly had some great cuddles and once again rushed of to be somewhere else.






Once again I we went off to that great little place in Moe for a lovely cooked meal ( LOL ) of Chinese a few drinks and a few games were in order for the night. I tell you now this little place in Moe is so good you want to go back time and time again for it is such a relaxed environment you feel like you are in your own home. What's yours is mine and what's mine is yours it is like that, I had the greatest time again and the hosts are just so entertaining.






The next day was so glorious and sunny we headed of to the park to fly some kites with the kids it was like I was ten again , running around flying the kite wow you forget the simple pleasures in life sometimes, I reckon that the next sunny and windy day this is to everyone out there get yourself and the kids a kite and just go for it you will love it and so will they.






But hey the most fun I had was when I had a turn on the swings, Once again I had forgotten how much fun it is to swing, Swinging for me is a little tricky as I get a little motion sick as the higher I go and the faster I go my head gets dizzy, but I loved every second of it and with friends it is great too, watching all the faces they pull priceless.

And after all that fun in the park we went back and had tea another great meal, for dessert a lovely chocy fondu yummy but I'm still partial to G's chocy balls. Back home late again but time flies when having fun as they say. As we pulled into the driveway it pored down with rain the kids were asleep , we unpacked everything from the car running load after load inside huddled under umbrella's so very funny and bloody freezing, a quick check everything in and off to bed, I don't think my head hit the pillow and I was asleep.

So tired

It has been the longest weekend for a while but this is just a quick one tonight. I went to enroll Maddy in kinda, but it is not that easy around here as to get her in to the kinda we liked I had to be there before 5.30 in the morning. Well that sucks to get up that early so bugger it Tim and I stayed up playing pool and poker all bloody night.

It was two thirty in the morning and it was freezing so we came in side and watched a movie , it took Tim three seconds to fall asleep on the couch and four seconds to start snoring.
I sat and watched the movie and by quarter past four we started to get ready and head down there. Now I don't know if you get this feeling but have you ever been somewhere and thought to yourself crap am I in the right spot . We kept saying shit are we in the right place we were waiting and waiting for another car to turn up, by five fifteen cars arrived and thank god we were about to start ringing our wives to make sure.

So I ended up staying up when I got home and chatting with friends all night didn't go to bed until about two Sunday morning . Nicole did let me sleep in till ten which by goodness I needed it then our bloody washing machine shit it self. The funny thing was I just got through telling a friend of mine how great my washer wash nah never do that again Murphy's law.

Off we went to Harvey Norman bought a new front loader I think it is a Bosch Nic got a few hundred of it thank god I found out the real price tonight bloody expensive things.

Then we headed of for tea at this nice little place down in Moe they serve great baked potatoes andthey are so yummy I went back for seconds ( ok thirds ) and the coffee is delicious you can drink it all night. We didn't get out of there until nearly Monday morning the kids were asleep thankfully I didn't have to go to work today as the boss was away and my manager said just do the parcel run and go home. So I did they owe me hours anyway I thought I might sneak a little nap in but Nic had other idea's cleaning so out in the shed I went all clean know.

Now I've just watched one of my fav shows Top Gear and nearly wet myself so so very funny tonight. Not much has really happened but I've managed to dribble on for long enough now but I did manage to get a picture of the hostess of the little place in Moe ..................




I think she might be Russian NIKITA rings a bell...............;)

Rally

Once again another day at the office start early do my parcel run which now has turned into a tyre run as well, we just got the contract with bridgestone. Which is fine but have you ever lugged a tyre around before you know that you get black crap all over you , now times that by twenty tyres yuck.

We received a tyre for leongatha today and the transport company asked me to take it over there so I did yes it was only one tyre but it had to go all the way over to them by today. Oh well off I went in my boss's 4wd 45mins later the tyre was at its destination and I remembered what George said once that he doesn't like to travel home the same way as it gets boring.

So I went of on a little adventure and went down the grand ridge road. I haven't been down that road for a long time, and let me say I had the time of my life wet dirt road , slippery corners. Now I'm not normally a crazy person but something in me went rally mad I was going sideways downing gears sliding around corners sideways don't worry I only did this on corners where I could see but I had so much fun it was like wow drop another gear power it up and whoosh of I went sideways again this was going on for ages and when the rush was over I wanted to go back and do it all over again.

but I must admit something I was going only slow never got over 60k's but it was a first for me so I had to go slow there just happened to be a photographer as I went around the last corner and snapped a shot for me thanks

Another day Another Treasure

As the title said another day, it has been one of those weeks I'm afraid to say where nothing really happens, you go to work and it is just that work.
I like going to work don't get me wrong it is well I hate boring repetitive weeks that's all , if we have a busy week the next week is busy as well with deliveries and look ats. But I must say it has been alright I have been doing a few more look ats this week I love doing them.

Look ats are when I go to peoples houses and look at their furniture to buy off them, I'm in the second hand furniture game and new stuff too but I love secondhand furniture as it has character and it has a story.

Most of my house is full of secondhand things from chest of drawers to tools in the shed I've got some great bargains and a lot of free stuff too.

This is my fav piece I just love chests of draws. I rescued this from a lady in trafalgar she was going to America and was throwing it to the tip. It was covered in white paint about three or four layers. I gave it a sand and a scrub and now it has my CD's and DVD's in it and the stereo sits on top then I found out it was cedar yummy.



I also found this one in a skip at a lovely old lady's house it didn't have the mirror for it so she thought it worthless so in the bin it went.It makes a great pencil and paper holder for the kids stuff all their coloring pages go in there.Of course I sanded it back and restained it also did find an Edwardian overmantle in the same skip but that was sold a while ago like I said I like drawers.





Then I found these at auction and lets say they were a gift for the amount I paid for them. They were weird so I had to have them , they are step drawers you can use them as steps our kids love to sit on them and climb up and down.







This chest of drawers is not flash not very good but they would have to be the most valuable to me for they are the first chest of drawers I found and they are my sons. He has had them since he was born Nicole painted them all these beautiful colors and I don't think we will ever get rid of them never.


Then there are the drawers i had made they didn't follow the drawing I gave them but I still like them they hold all my clothes and bits and pieces and the cupboard beside it well I know I like drawers but this is kind of like drawers ( not really ) but I like it too..






Then there is the cane drawers full of toys and stuff each kids room has these .......















There are also drawers on nic's desk but you probly have already seen them.So if you are ever at a garage sale or the tip or auction anywhere and you see a nice set of drawers even if it needs a little loving let me know I will come and get or send me a photo so I can dream of a spot for them in my collection did I mention I love drawers and chests....LOL.....;)..





There was one more photo but I didn't find this in a bin or at the tip this one found me and I'm glad it did for I would never part with this for all the tea in china.

Cold day

Just a quick one tonight as not much has happened in the last few days . It has been so bloody cold lately that it has made me go out and get a new scarf, dig out all my big wooly jumpers and I thought to my self I might even get a pair of ear muffs.

I know what your saying "Ear muffs how dorky" yeah I know they are dorky but it depends on what style you get. I myself like the pair I tried on today they were so warm and toasty.

Great weekend ( say cheese)

I had the best weekend it was great bloody cold but great. We had some friends come and stay and we drank yummy kahlua milkshakes and played some games just generally a good fun night/morning by the time we got to bed.

So the next day we trekked of to gumboot park ( Gumbya Park ) the kids were hanging out for ages to go there so we decided to go to celebrate Maddy's birthday and also Amber's as well.
We had the coldest and windiest day we sat with rugs wrapped around us until the bbq had finished, once we got moving it was not so bad well still cold but not that bad.

We all had a great time playing mini golf and the kids were almost lethal with the putters and I cant remember how many extra golf balls we had to get, they kept going missing? Thank god we didn't keep score.

But on a funnier note Nicole took the best photo of George , G don't take offence to this but it kind of reminded me of one of my favorite shows

I would have to say it was such a funny photo, I was pissing my self when I saw it tonight not at you G but that it reminded me of Wallace And Gromit. I just love those character's and the way they grin so cheesy.

Nic took some great photos but she will show you on her blog but she did show me one of me and my girl, She had the greatest time driving the mini cars. But I must admit something, our mini car would have been the slowest thing on this planet I believe that I was over taken by a family of snails, yet I managed to crash twice into the railing and stall twice and had to call the racv ( how embarrassing ) to get a tow back to the Finnish line but the fun part was when the young kid on the back of the car said I will get it going a bit faster for you and shit we were flying we over took everyone.

Oh well we ended up back home put the kids in front of a movie and we all sat in front of the heater and watched a movie it was great like I keep saying it was great it was just to relax and unwind .

Grump and B'day Girl

What an uneventful week work has been really shit and I've still got one more day to go, my boss has been on a war path for god knows what reason everything he has wanted done I've done but it's still not right or not good enough , I'm ready to either quit or break his freaking neck. I think I will just have to bite my tongue and count to ten next time he comes in or I will punch him fair square in the face, he comes into work and just grumps his way around does not say anything to you but when he leaves he calls back to the office and tells my boss everything that he wants done gutless .
Well enough ranting phew clad that's out sorry for that but it had to be said.

It was my baby girls forth b'day today and she woke up this morning and was all grumpy until Nicole said hey birthday girl and she remembered it was her birthday it was so funny just to hear her go from arggghhhh to yeahhhhhh presents all in one second flat. She got to open her presents straight away I was barely awake to see what she got but she looked happy looking thru one eye and a yawn.

I got to go and have lunch with Maddy and Nicole down at giggles playhouse which was fun and a yummy schnitzel and chips was even better than the sandwich that I was going to have thanks Nic for the invite for lunch. Maddy didn't really care that I was there until the food came out and I had a fizzy drink and she had juice. Had to get back to work before grumble bum turned up again and I did have work to do.
So I think Maddy had a good birthday all the rest of the family turned up for a while and gave Maddy more presents she was so happy with everything she got . Another year gone and now I have a big four year old girl not a baby anymore I've been really good and I haven't cried today thinking of my little baby that came into this world four years ago oops that was it now I'm crying bugger was doing so well...;)

I cant wait for the weekend and we can go and have some fun If the rain holds out that is so of to bed for me the quicker I go the quicker tomorrow will come and the quicker Friday night will get here and the quicker the weekend will get here this week has to end eventually thank goodness.

Old photos or not?

Wow going through some old photos the other day brought back some great memories,
I remember going to some great places meeting some great people I was standing in this line to get some coffee and I bump into this guy, he kind of looked familiar but then again..





I had to go and drop some paper work off for my boss the other day and this guy wanted to get my photo with him I don't know why....








So I thought I would take a little trip and just cruise around for a while see if I could see anything interesting...







Oh well nothing really jumped out for me so I just kept looking and traveling here and there for a while ...................................................



















well that's all the photos I could find for now but I think there might be some more buried deep in the cupboard somewhere?

Just one more day

These holidays I have had are the laziest I've ever had I think , I've sat on my arse done nothing been nowhere seen no-one it has been fantastic. Well I mowed the lawn went to a few garage sales bought a new card table this one is round not square watched a heap of movies with the kids, cooked a few meals , made a few treats with the kids. Actually Alex made most of them I just did the hot stuff and he did the rest, He made anzacs and hedgehog slice yummy he loves to cook with dad, but then again I think he likes to cook just so he gets to eat the yummy food .


I don't know why but he loves anzac's he loves cooking them loves eating them he always wants me to make them for his school lunches .
I could think of a thousand worse things for him to have in his lunch box so a little anzac every now and then wont kill him. I know I've posted about these biscuits before but I love to say that they are made by Alex and it was all his idea to make them , he read the recipe book, he got all the ingredients out, he made them well done Alex well done.

But back to the just one more day I only have one more day off before I go back to the salt mines.
Alex is back to school tomorrow it will be just the three of us, I might go fishing to relax my self before I go back to work. It has been nice these holidays I've had some great days at home with the family it has been fantastic just to stay home. Oh well best be off and do something or not.
